Ad verification: see ads from your users’ city

Check ad delivery, landing pages and affiliate links by country and city on real residential IPs.

Keep five kinds of work separate

A working ad-account login establishes access to a workspace. It does not show where an ad ran. A preview helps inspect creative, while a page test checks the destination. Delivery and attribution require their own records with campaign identifiers, reporting periods and measurement definitions.

Google documents a Search preview tool that avoids ordinary search impressions. W3C cautions that an IP location cannot reliably determine a reader’s language. Those two boundaries prevent a common bad test: changing countries, searching for an ad and treating the resulting page as proof of audience delivery.

Management, preview, localization, delivery and attribution each lead to a different evidence record; no lane proves the others.

Write a check request that can be closed

  1. State the decision

Example request: verify the French copy on an owned campaign page. Record the approved page version, expected language and currency. This is a planning example, not a completed campaign test.

  2. Choose the evidence lane

Ask for a creative preview for a crop issue, a read-only account record for access, or an existing report for delivery. Do not open live ad inventory to generate evidence.

  3. Isolate destination checks

Have the page owner provide a test copy with ad, analytics and conversion requests disabled. Open its direct URL, never a paid ad or affiliate tracker. Review forms without sending them.

  4. Record the finding and its limit

Keep timestamp, page/creative version, device, language and observed result. If geography is varied, hold the remaining inputs constant. An untested delivery or attribution question stays open.

Assign the unresolved part to the owner of that evidence. More browser refreshes cannot fill a reporting gap.

When a network route helps

Keep a working direct connection for account review and native preview. Regional residential routing can help compare an owned page’s IP-dependent behavior after tracking isolation is confirmed. It does not set the campaign’s target audience.

If using a proxy, match the client protocol, host, port and authentication to the current offer. Verify the observed exit on a neutral endpoint, then keep one exit for each comparison. Available geography and site behavior must be checked; the configuration shortcuts promise neither ad access nor delivery.

Resolve the failed check

Preview and report disagree

Check: Compare creative version, placement and report period.

Next action: Keep both records; request a like-for-like comparison from the campaign owner.

The page language does not follow the IP

Check: Check explicit URL, browser language and saved preference.

Next action: Test those inputs independently before changing the route.

A test would count an impression, click or lead

Check: Check whether the URL loads production ad or measurement services.

Next action: Stop and request an isolated fixture or an approved native preview.

A practical boundary

Do I need a proxy to verify every advertisement?

No. Native previews, existing reports and offline creative review often answer the question. Use a network comparison only when the page’s behavior actually depends on the exit location.
