Reddit targets ads by location — countries, states, ZIP codes or Designated Market Areas (DMAs) — and can also target devices and mobile carriers. A campaign aimed at a few US metros is meant for people there, so a check from abroad doesn't show what they see.
Location is only part of it. Reddit also targets the communities people engage with and keywords in conversations, and its automated targeting reads signals that include the ad creative and the landing page content. What your page says helps decide who sees the ad.
Reddit ads appear in the feed and inside conversations, marked as Promoted, in formats from image and video (videos up to 15 minutes) to carousels of up to six images. Check them in the subreddits you target, then open the landing page from the same place.

Under Line keep Budget, or switch to Premium if you want to pick the ISP. Open Add traffic, pick a package or enter Custom GB, and click Buy selected package. Purchases start at 1 GB.
In Connection settings leave Exit mode on Choose region / sticky IP. Choose Region, then State and City if the campaign targets a city. Click Review cost and generate: Proxy302 checks that the new proxy really exits in that country before handing it over. Repeat for each market. For a DMA target, pick a city inside that metro area.
Put the proxy into a fresh browser profile and confirm the exit on an IP-check page. Open reddit.com and the subreddits in your targeting, scroll the feed and open a few busy threads, and note where Promoted posts — yours and competitors' — appear.
Paste your ad's destination URL into the same profile instead of clicking the ad, and check that the page matches the post's promise, loads fast at phone size and shows local prices and shipping. Repeat with the next market's proxy.

Fix Reddit combines several signals, so a proxy alone won't guarantee a sighting. Confirm delivery in Reddit Ads reporting, and use the proxy for context and page checks.
Check Does an IP-check page in the same profile show the target country?
Fix Fix the profile's proxy or generate one in another city and reload.
Check Does the site choose the market by IP, by browser language or by a saved cookie?
Fix Use a fresh profile per market and set the browser language; if nothing changes, fix the site's market setup.
Check Is supply short for that country on this line right now?
Fix Try again, or switch Line between Premium and Budget and generate again; each line uses its own traffic. The proxy is only delivered once the exit country matches.
Reddit targets countries, states, ZIP codes and DMAs. In Connection settings choose Region, State and City, and pick a city inside the DMA or ZIP area you target.
Reddit can target devices and cell phone carriers, so a carrier-targeted campaign may not show on a home connection. Check those on a phone that uses that carrier.
