ISP proxies explained
What an ISP proxy is, what a lease costs from US$0.50 a day, where the break-even against pay per GB sits and which limits apply.
A "home-broadband IP" is often compared with a "datacenter IP", but many guides give only the conclusion and not a way to check. This article explains the idea first, then gives steps you can follow to check an IP yourself, and finally shows how to buy a static residential ISP IP and what to buy.
"Home broadband" means the internet service a household buys. A home-broadband IP is the IP address an internet service provider (ISP) assigns to a home broadband customer. It is the address a website sees when you connect from home. Outside China the matching terms are residential IP or ISP IP.
The opposite is a datacenter IP, also called a data-center IP or IDC IP. It comes from cloud servers and data centers. The difference is not speed. It is who the address belongs to: a home-broadband IP belongs to a network built for individual customers, and a datacenter IP belongs to a hosting provider. So when you choose an IP, first look at which kind of network it belongs to.
No method is one hundred percent accurate, but there is a simple check you can repeat.
Open https://ipinfo.io/json through the exit you want to check.
Look at the org field. It is made of the ASN (autonomous system number) and a network name. If the name is an internet service provider that serves individual customers, the network is usually home-broadband type. If the name is a cloud or hosting company, the network is usually a datacenter.
Then read what the official IPinfo documentation says about ASNs. It labels each ASN with the "type of organization that owns the ASN", and the values are isp, hosting, business, education and government. isp is an internet service provider, and hosting is hosting, which means datacenter type.
Treat the result as a reference only. The IPinfo type describes the organization that owns the ASN, not a guarantee about every single IP. The same company's network can contain both home-broadband and business lines. For how to read the fields, see also how to check a proxy IP's location.
In China, "home broadband" is the line an internet service provider gives a home customer. Abroad, a residential IP or ISP IP is also an address assigned by an internet service provider, just in another country. When you buy, check which country the IP is in and which kind of network it belongs to, not whether it is called home broadband.
You also need to tell two things apart: "residential" and "static residential ISP". The first means rotating residential, where the IP changes. The second is one address that stays fixed during the lease. For the difference, see residential, ISP and datacenter proxies compared and what an ISP proxy is.
Static residential ISP IPs are leased per IP. Lease terms are 1, 3, 7, 30, 60 and 90 days. The price is US$0.50 for one day, US$7.99 for 30 days and US$23.97 for 90 days. You can buy 1 to 100 at a time, and the minimum purchase is 1 IP for 1 day.
A static residential ISP IP leased for 30 days or more is dedicated: it belongs only to you for the whole lease. The IP is fixed during the lease and does not rotate. Stock in each country can change, so go by what the order page shows. For prices and where to buy, see the static residential proxy page and static residential, pay per IP.
If you need the same address for a long time, choose static residential ISP. If you send many independent requests and pay-per-traffic pricing suits you better, choose rotating residential. For more questions to ask when deciding, see how to choose a residential IP.
Once you have the proxy, open https://ipinfo.io/json through it. Check that country is the country you want and that org is the name of a network for individual customers. If it is not, check the order page first, then contact support.
Proxy302 proxies only need an address, a port, a username and a password. Rotating residential is billed by traffic, and the exit country is set when you generate the proxy; HTTP is on port 2222 of proxy.proxy302.com and SOCKS5 is on port 3333. A static ISP IP is fixed for the whole lease and does not rotate, and leases of 30 days or more are dedicated. The table below shows the exits in 7 countries from our most recent hourly check; the probe requests ChatGPT, which is only an example target. For details, see the rotating residential page and the proxy location check guide.

Hourly check of the Proxy302 probe, 28 October 2026, 14:56 UTC: one request to ChatGPT per country through a dynamic residential exit, using the public Proxy302 entry. Only the first three octets of an IP are public. One sample per country, not an average; later checks will differ.
Open the rotating residential page, choose the line, and keep Protocol on HTTP or choose SOCKS5, then click Review cost and generate.
Open My assets (the console page that holds everything you bought) and copy HOST, PORT, USERNAME and PASSWORD. The Connect page shows a ready example with your own endpoint.
Enter the details in the browser or tool you are setting up.
Confirm the exit with https://ipinfo.io/json through the proxy.
From mainland China, start the helper tool from the Connect page first and keep it open while you use the proxy.
The Budget line costs US$1.50 per GB, US$1.35 per GB in a 100 GB package and US$1.20 per GB at 300 GB. There is no free trial, and the smallest purchase is 1 GB. Which exit locations are available changes daily.
Open https://ipinfo.io/json, read the network name in the org field, then compare it with the ASN types in the IPinfo documentation. The result is a reference only.
It is fixed during the lease and does not rotate. When the lease ends, you need to buy it again.
Dedicated refers to static residential ISP IPs leased for 30 days or more. For shorter leases we say only that the IP is fixed.
It shows the ASN number plus a network name, for example "AS number + company name". The company name tells you who operates the address.
