SOCKS5 is not billed as a separate product: you pay the price of the line it runs on. Both ports ask for the username and password from My assets.

Connect over SOCKS5 in three steps

  1. Buy traffic or lease IPs

Rotating residential: top up the wallet and buy GB from 1 GB — US$1.50/GB on the Budget line. Static ISP: lease IPs per term and pick SOCKS5 when you generate the proxy.

  2. Point your tool at the gateway

Host proxy.proxy302.com, port 3333, proxy type SOCKS5, plus the username and password from My assets (Copy all copies the four fields). Tools that only speak HTTP use port 2222 with the same credentials.

  3. Check the exit IP

Run the command below, or open ipinfo.io in the browser profile that uses the proxy.

Expected result The IP and country belong to the proxy's exit, not to your own connection.

Test the SOCKS5 proxy with curl

Scroll horizontally with the arrow keys to read all content.

# SOCKS5 on port 3333 — socks5h lets the proxy resolve DNS too
curl -x socks5h://USERNAME:[email protected]:3333 https://ipinfo.io/json

# HTTP on port 2222 — same account, same credentials
curl -x http://USERNAME:[email protected]:2222 https://ipinfo.io/json

# Direct, for comparison
curl https://ipinfo.io/json

Copy USERNAME and PASSWORD from My assets. Keep the h in socks5h://: with plain socks5:// your own computer resolves the hostname, with socks5h:// the proxy does. The first command should return the exit IP and country of the proxy; the third returns your own.

Which tools can sign in to a SOCKS5 proxy
CriterionSOCKS5 with username and passwordWhat to do
curl and other CLI toolsYessocks5h://USERNAME:PASSWORD@HOST:PORT, or the command above
Scripts and automation (Python, Node.js, Scrapy…)Yes, wherever the tool has a SOCKS5 settingFill in host, port, username and password as ordinary fields
Phone apps (Shadowrocket, v2rayNG)Yes — add a SOCKS5 nodeField-by-field steps in the two guides
Antidetect browsersYes — SOCKS5 in the profile's proxy settingsSee the antidetect browser setup guide
Chrome's own proxy settingsNo — Chrome does not authenticate to SOCKS5Use HTTP on port 2222, or one of the tools above

Chromium's proxy documentation states that no authentication methods are supported for SOCKS5 in Chrome, and our SOCKS5 port always requires the login — so a plain Chrome profile cannot connect. Our own browser extension is HTTP-only for the same reason.

SOCKS5 or HTTP: which one to use

Both protocols run on the same gateway with the same username and password — HTTP on port 2222, SOCKS5 on port 3333 — so you can choose per job and mix them.

Use HTTP when the tool supports only HTTP proxies, or when plain web requests are all you need. Use SOCKS5 when the tool speaks it natively, when you want DNS resolved on the proxy side (socks5h:// in curl), or when the traffic is not plain HTTP request and response: SOCKS5 forwards TCP connections whatever protocol runs on top.

On rotating residential the line carries both protocols. On static ISP the protocol is set once, when you generate the proxy — generate another proxy with the other protocol when the job changes.

When SOCKS5 does not connect

Authentication rejected

Check The username and password were copied whole, with no stray spaces or line breaks, and the port is 3333 (2222 is the HTTP port).

Fix Copy the four fields again with Copy all in My assets and re-enter them in the tool's SOCKS5 settings.

The connection hangs, then times out

Check Is the tool sending SOCKS5 to port 2222, or HTTP to port 3333? Each port speaks only its own protocol.

Fix SOCKS5 goes to 3333; HTTP goes to 2222.

Domain names resolve on your own network

Check With socks5:// the hostname is resolved on your computer; only socks5h:// sends the lookup to the proxy.

Fix Write socks5h:// in curl and in tools that follow the same convention.

Chrome never asks for the SOCKS5 password and the connection fails

Check Chrome's proxy support does not authenticate to SOCKS5, and our gateway always requires the login.

Fix Use an antidetect browser profile or a phone app for SOCKS5, or point Chrome at HTTP on port 2222.

A static ISP proxy needs the other protocol

Check The protocol is chosen at generation and the asset has no protocol switch.

Fix Generate a new proxy with the protocol you need; on rotating residential you can keep one of each.

SOCKS5 proxy FAQ

What is a SOCKS5 proxy?

A proxy that forwards TCP connections for your application after a short handshake, instead of interpreting web requests. Any tool with a SOCKS5 setting can use it — browsers, scrapers, phone apps — and it also carries traffic that is not plain HTTP.

How do I add a SOCKS5 proxy?

Four values in any SOCKS5-capable tool: type SOCKS5, host proxy.proxy302.com, port 3333, and the username and password from My assets. In curl that is one line: curl -x socks5h://USERNAME:[email protected]:3333 https://ipinfo.io/json

How much does a SOCKS5 proxy cost?

SOCKS5 costs nothing extra; you pay the line it runs on. Rotating residential: Budget from US$1.50/GB — US$1.42/GB at 50 GB, US$1.35/GB at 100 GB, US$1.20/GB at 300 GB, US$1.124/GB at 500 GB — and Premium at US$5.00/GB; minimum purchase 1 GB, prepaid per GB, and bought traffic does not expire. Static ISP is billed per IP and lease term on the pricing page.

SOCKS5 or HTTP: which should I choose?

Choose what your tool can log in with. HTTP on port 2222 fits browsers and HTTP-only tools; SOCKS5 on port 3333 suits tools that speak SOCKS5 and lets the proxy resolve DNS with socks5h://. On rotating residential you can use both; on static ISP the protocol is fixed at generation.

Which Proxy302 lines support SOCKS5?

Rotating residential supports HTTP and SOCKS5 on the same line. Static ISP supports SOCKS5 with the protocol chosen at generation. The proxies overview lists the full catalogue.

Why does SOCKS5 with a password fail in Chrome's settings?

Chrome's own proxy support does not authenticate to SOCKS5 — Chromium's documentation says no authentication methods are supported for SOCKS5 — and our gateway requires the login. Use an antidetect browser or a phone app for SOCKS5, or HTTP on port 2222 in Chrome.
