Why Mercado Libre sellers use a proxy

Mercado Libre is a set of country marketplaces — it counts 18 countries — and its Global Selling program lets sellers outside Latin America reach buyers in Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Argentina from one account.

Global Selling listings start in English with prices in US dollars, then go live as local items on each marketplace: Mexico (MLM), Brazil (MLB), Chile (MLC) and Colombia (MCO). Mercado Libre's developer guide even advises adding a local-language title to avoid automatic translations. What a buyer actually sees is the local item page — so check it on the local site, from that country.

That is a rotating residential job: an exit in the buyer's country with Choose region / sticky IP, state and city targeting when you want a specific area, billed per GB. Check Mercado Libre listings in 5 steps

1. Open the setup

   The button below opens Rotating Residential Proxies with Use case set to Ecommerce. Under Line pick Budget for routine checks (from US$1.50/GB) or Premium (from US$5.00/GB) if pages keep failing.

2. Buy traffic

   Open Add traffic. Ready-made packages start at 50 GB; for a first test type 1 under Custom GB instead, then press Buy selected package. Buying traffic and generating a proxy are separate actions.

3. Pick the country, then the city

   Keep Exit mode on Choose region / sticky IP, set Region to Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Colombia or Argentina and, if you need a specific area, a State and City. Leave Protocol on HTTP and press Review cost and generate.

4. One proxy per country

   Generate once for each country you check. Each proxy is tied to its country; in My assets, Copy next to it copies its full line, host:port:username:password.

5. Open the local item page

   In a clean browser profile, or with the script below, open your item on that country's site — mercadolibre.com.mx, mercadolivre.com.br — and check the title, price and delivery text a local buyer gets.

   Expected result ipinfo.io shows the country you picked, and the local site opens in its own language.

Prints the exit country, HTTP status and page title of each local item page. Replace the item IDs with the local IDs of your Global Selling listing and use one proxy line per country. Needs pip install requests.
