Proxy Differences
Legacy guide: screenshots and helper-tool steps may differ from the current product.
This is an English translation of a legacy guide. For the original wording, read the Chinese original.
HTTP: Can proxy client HTTP access, mainly for browser web access; HTTP proxies work at the application layer, only allowing users to access external websites via the HTTP protocol.
Socks5: Simply passes data packets without concern for the application protocol; Socks5 proxies work at the session layer and do not require applications to follow a specific operating system platform.
Theoretically, Socks5 is faster than HTTP, but the specific choice depends on the platform being used; for example, Chrome cannot use Socks5, and v2ray cannot use HTTP.
Differences between Residential IP and Datacenter IPResidential IP: Generally refers to routers or personal PCs, typically provided by telecommunications companies. Because they are personal devices, it is difficult to guarantee 24-hour operation, and they may become invalid or unhealthy during use. However, Residential IPs are safer; some websites can only be accessed when a Residential IP is detected, and using a Residential IP can also reduce the risk of account bans.
Datacenter IP: The providers are generally cloud server vendors (such as Amazon, Google), and these are server IPs. Generally, they are less likely to become unhealthy (because servers can typically maintain 24h operation). However, Datacenter IPs can be detected; some websites will block access or are more prone to banning accounts when a Datacenter IP is detected.
Differences between Dynamic IP and Static IPDynamic IP: Refers to a method where an IP address is assigned only when in use, suitable for users with short-term IP business requirements;
Static IP: Refers to a fixed IP address assignment, using the same address every time, suitable for users with long-term IP business requirements.
